If he indeed desired to coach the Yankees, I feel that the offer was very good considering a few points for discussion:</p><p>1.] Before joining the Yankees, Joe was a sub-500 manager with at least a couple of teams{Mets, Cardinals and I&#39;m not sure which other{s}</p><p>2.] The Yankees, year in and year out, spend the money to attempt to put an all-star at every position.</p><p>3.] The nature of this game in New York is to win championships{see all the fan apparel referencig rings}. The Yankees have not done so for seven years.
