Here is a sampling of the daily meditations available for anyone interested.

I Have Chosen You to Fight Under the Flag of Jesus Christ! (I)

One day, in a Dominican church in Paris, during the All Saints' Day octave in 1465, Blessed Alain de la Roche reproached himself for the lukewarm way he was reciting his rosary. Suddenly, Our Lady, accompanied by other virgins appeared before him and said, “Do not flee, my son! If you don’t believe who my companions and I are, just make the sign of the cross before us. If we are hellish visions, we will disappear immediately. If, on the contrary, we are heavenly visions, we will remain, and the light that emanates from each one of us will brighten.”

So Alain made the sign of the cross and the light of the apparition grew brighter. “O my son, doubt no more! I am your virginal bride,” Our Lady told him. “I have always loved you and I am concerned about you always. But you must know that nobody is without pain in this world; neither me, nor my Son, nor any of these saints have lived without suffering. What is more, you must keep the faith and patience as your weapons and prepare yourself for trials more difficult than those which you have experienced up to now. I have chosen you to fight like a brave man and a hero under the flag of Jesus Christ, not like a parody of a soldier! You will stand next to me under my banner. As for the moments of spiritual desert that you have experienced these past few days, don’t let them worry you anymore. I wanted you to take that test. Accept it now as a penance and punishment for your past sins. Accept it also as a means of making progress in patience and for the salvations of others, both dead and alive.”

I Have Chosen You to Fight Under the Flag of Jesus Christ! (II)

This is how Blessed Alain de la Roche described the apparition that sent him out into the world to preach:

“Her beauty seemed to reach the summits of what is possible; and, before such beauty, the beauty of flowers, even the beauty of the stars are only a pale copy, a formless shadow, a coarse outline. There exuded from the depths of her physical presence a sweet, powerful and intoxicating perfume. The accent of her voice and her words were so charming-nothing in this world can come close to comparing to her beauty.”

Excerpt from Father Laurentin’s Dictionnaire des Apparitions - Fayard 2006

Hail Mary, Full of Grace, The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.
Amen.

David, Saint Francis also went to war, then quit in his first year and returned home to become a priest.

A royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people set apart.

The war part is correct, but St. Francis of Asissi was never a priest.

POR, Apparantly you missed my sign off: A royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people set apart. All Catholic men are consecrated to the royal priesthood. Some men are ordained priests to the ministry of the church and all other men are consecrated to the ministry of the church at home. Francis was ordained a Deacon but did not take his final ordination to priest in the ministry of the church, rather consecrated a priest of the church at monastary.

Believe it or not, you and I are considered consecrated to the priestly ministry of the church at home.

A royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people set apart.

delmer,

Sorry -- I did miss the significance of your sign off. But that raises another question:

Since all Catholic men are consecrated to the royal priesthood, then Francis was already such a priest when he went off to war and therefore he didn't have to return to become one.

Right?

"Since all Catholic men are consecrated to the royal priesthood, then Francis was already such a priest when he went off to war and therefore he didn't have to return to become one"

Guys, don't confuse the sense this is meant in: ALL THE CATHIOLIC FAITHFUL ( men and women) are consecrated to the royal priesthood at BAPTISM, because they are part of Jesus who is the royal priest. That is why we use CHRISM (notice the resemblance to Christ christos anointed one) when we are baptized and confirmed, oil is used to anoint. Not only that we are anointed priest, prophet and disciple.

Just because someone is part of Jesus does not mean they are part of the formal and ordained leadership of his body.  Anymore then it means that a priest should be using his foot to hold the sacred vessels during the consecration.  All parts have their most necessary dignity and place, not all parts are not heads or hands or feet.  ( they are however all part of the THE priest).

indecently where does the idea priest can't fight in a war come from? As I recall one of our popes lead the charge against the vandals when they were coming to sack Rome ( again) . ( don’t know if he fought or not) I don't recall seeing it in the bible.  Perhaps some cannon law?  That can only refer to ordained priests. Perhaps some kind of tradition of trusting in God? Any ideas, I'm truly ignorant on that topic?

Ave Maria!

a thought from St. Maximilian Kolbe:

“If we belong to the Immaculate, then everything that is ours belongs to Her and Jesus accepts everything that comes from us as if it came from Her, as if it belonged to Her  In this case, She cannot leave those actions imperfect, but She renders them worthy of Herself, that is Immaculate, without the slightest stain.”

david,

wonderful thoughts, it seems people think you don't grow!  How wrong they are.  Growth comes from the desire to break free from the world, sin, flesh.  Flung towards the light.  The light brings growth, watering is necessary too!  School grade stuff.  Remember the potted plants in under
light?  Daily watering(prayer) daily light(Jesus) brings growth to human souls.

You're right on schedule, The Holy Queen, Mother of God is Full of Graces for Her children.

PtR, Will you follow in the footsteps of Saint Francis of Asissi or will you persist in the war games? Food for thought!

bhokuto, You should know considering that you infer that you are a mystic. Weeds are sins. If you want your soul to be a beautiful garden, then you need to pull out the sins by confession and vow to never commit them again. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit

In the suburbs of Paris, there lived a well known doctor named Louis Granpas. He was known for his great medical skills and his benevolence towards the poor. Louis came from a rich family and he had married the heiress of a great fortune. He was a fervent Christian and he took it as a duty to treat all his poor patients for free. He devoted all his spare time to the poor. Even during his rare vacation times, he found a way to continue treating poor patients for nothing.

One Sunday, He returned late in the night after a medical congress. He had a heavy trunk with him and signaled to a taxi and gave the driver his address. The driver had a grim face and the strength of Hercules. He grabbed the trunk and set in on the seat close to him and he said in a dry tone: “Get in!” Usually, Mr. Granpas would not judge anybody according to his appearance, but the driver’s manners appeared strange to him. He was even more astonished when the fellow hit the gas and raced down the street in the opposite direction. The doctor opened the door and ordered the driver to stop. But he didn’t listen and carried on down the street at a neck-breaking speed. Then he left the city, taking a bad never-ending road…

Instinctively, the passenger wanted to seize his revolver. He remembered that he had left it in the trunk, which was next to the driver. At that point, he found his rosary, which he always had on him and entrusted the outcome of this adventure to the Mother of God.

David, My parish priest came to my house to visit and said at breakfast that when he came to town for the first time he saw the flag of the Vatican flown on my property and said to his priest friend, "Now there is a real Catholic parishoner"

The flag of the Vatican can be ordered personally through US Alamo flags and I am certain many others.

My mother and my brother had the flag of the Vatican draped over thier coffins and at the gravesite. Many at the funeral were impressed religiously moreso than being draped with an American flag. The impression is Catholic and faithful, and the flag of the Vatican is beautiful.

Finally the car stopped in front of house with bright lights on inside.. The driver left his seat, opened the door nervously and said, “Hurry, go in quickly, doctor, my child is dying.” As a result, Dr. Granpas understood the driver’s strange behavior. He had been afraid for his child and afraid of arriving too late.

He entered the house where a young woman was anxiously bending over the cradle of a little child, just a few months’ old, who was twisting in convulsions. “Get my trunk, quickly!” No sooner said than done! Using all his medical skills and all he had at his disposal, the doctor tried to calm the small body. And then, he awaited the result of his intervention.

The father managed to speak a word. Through his sobs, he apologized for “kidnapping” the doctor at such a late hour in the night. Of course, the doctor would have preferred to return to his home. “You see, doctor, I had already called three doctors that I know of, but all the three were out. I was so sad, but I had to leave my child to do the night shift. When I saw you, I only had one idea in my despair: I was going to save my child,” said the father earnestly. “Yes, but how did you know that I was a doctor?” “I saw it written on your trunk,” he replied. “Ah, that’s true, I hadn’t thought of that,” said the doctor with a sigh.

The mother interrupted their conversation and said, “I don’t know if you are a believer, but when you came in the room, I was just finishing the “Memorare” recited with all my heart.” Then, smiling, the doctor drew his rosary out of his pocket. “Here, this is the weapon I used during the insane drive I had in your husband’s taxi as I thought was going to end up in a trap,” admitted the doctor. “You are the messenger of the Mother of God,” said the mother, obviously moved.

During this conversation in low voices, the child fell asleep and slept quietly in his cradle. The doctor declared that the child was out of danger and that there was no longer any reason to worry. While he was preparing to leave, the child’s parents asked how much they owed the doctor for saving their child.

The generous doctor answered, “Absolutely nothing! The honor of being the messenger of the Mother of God amply compensates for this animated night. But now, driver, quickly take me home!”

Upon arrival to his home, Dr. Granpas asked in his turn what he owed. “Doctor,” answered the driver, “the joy taking the messenger of the Mother of God home is enough pay for me. Be sure that my wife will pray to the Blessed Virgin for you every day to pay back our debt of gratitude.”

At later dates, the good doctor returned several times to see the little child whose life he had saved that night in such an unexpected way. And every year, he accepted a bouquet of flowers in testimony of his parents’ gratitude.

y,

weeds are not sins. they are the enemies tools, encroachment.

Also I'm not a mystic, I just listen. and see with His eyes as best as I can.
We are part of the body of Christ to help one another, to perfect one another.  We should each esteem each other in the same fashion.

bhokuto, So sorry! To quote the words already used by the infamous bhokuto, "I was only testing you" Welcome to the club of tests. We all test one another as you may well know that it is written in the Holy Scriptures to "Test the Spirit to see that it is truth"

I am becoming more comfortable with your individual Spirit as we go along and I am certain eventually you and I will call each other Sisters in Christ.

October 22 - Our Lady of Kazan (Russia)

He Limited Neither the Number nor the Time

Jesus promised that, in His Church, there would be miracles greater than those which He had performed. He limited neither the number nor the time when these miracles would happen, so that, as long as the Church exists, we will always see the hand of the Lord expressing His power by extraordinary events. (…)

These perceptible signs of the absolute divine power always predict serious facts, expressing either God’s mercy and goodness, or His justice and indignation. This is done for His greater glory and for the good of many souls. May these events be for us a source of graces and blessings; contributing to enlivening the faith in our life, giving us an active faith, a faith that encourages us to do good works and to avoid all evil in order to make us worthy of God’s infinite mercy in this life and for eternity.

Saint John Bosco (1815-1888)
Apparition of Blessed Virgin on the Mountain of La Salette, written in Turin, 1875

David, Even in my Russia the Lady of Grace appears. Her message is consistant in all appearances, Prayer, fasting and conversion.

Have you considered wearing the brown scapular of the Carmelite Order? The Blessed Mother promises that: "Whomsoever dies wearing the Scapular shall not suffer the Eternal Fire"

You may be invested in the Scapular of the Carmelites by any priest using the Carmelite formula for consecration taking vows to the Order. A scapular may be bought at any religious goods store or online at the Carmelite webpage.

Today,

the Holy Mother said in her messages which I read dalily, give all to God through Me.

I hold your future.  It is through Me that you will live and come to
know My Son.  My Son wants you to come to Cross to find peace.

For awhile I was focused on what others received from the blessed Mother
as a message for "them".  Then I realized that She was speaking to all of us.  Her messages are for each and every one of us "singular" but broadcast in multicast.

Didn't our holy father, Pope John Paul II, consecrate Russia to Mary?

On Saturday, October 25, 732, the first day of Ramadan, the Moslem invaders decided to engage in battle with the Franks, just north of Poitiers, France.

The leader of the Franks, Charles Martel, defeated the Arab army, which had to retreat. This victory ended the Moslem invasions north of the Pyrenees. Charles Martel attributed his victory to the intercession of the Virgin Mary.

The Rosary is both meditation and supplication. Insistent prayer to the Mother of God is based on confidence that her maternal intercession can obtain all things from the heart of her Son. She is “all-powerful by grace,” to use the bold expression, which needs to be properly understood, of Blessed Bartolo Longo in his Supplication to Our Lady. This is a conviction which, beginning with the Gospel, has grown ever more firm in the experience of the Christian people.

The supreme poet Dante expresses it marvelously in the lines sung by Saint Bernard: “Lady, thou art so great and so powerful, that whoever desires grace yet does not turn to thee, would have his desire fly without wings.”

When in the Rosary we plead with Mary, the sanctuary of the Holy Spirit (cf. Lk 1:35), she intercedes for us before the Father who filled her with grace, and before the Son born of her womb, praying with us and for us.

O Blessed Rosary of Mary,
Sweet chain which unites us to God,
Bond of love which unites us to the angels,
Tower of salvation against the assaults of Hell,
Safe port in our universal shipwreck,
We will never abandon you.

You will be our comfort in the hour of death:
Yours our final kiss as life ebbs away,
And the last word from our lips
Will be your sweet name, O Queen of the Rosary of Pompeii,

O dearest Mother,
O Refuge of Sinners,
O Sovereign Consoler of the Afflicted.
May you be everywhere blessed,
Today and always,
On earth and in heaven.
