The rights of creation

I've stared a thread talking about the nature of 'rights'.

What do they mean ect.  This is NOT that thread.

I wanted also to explore more narrowly a specific topic that lead to the deeper discussion on rights.

So I'd like to first define some context.

1) Given the catholic world view

2) Given the existence of divine law

what relationships and properties do all created things share in common in such a way that we might talk about 'the respect due creation' or 'the rights of created things'.

It seems to me there is a source for great joy in this.

If we related correctly to all created things , each in it's proper place and all goods within their proper context we would not sin.

Also, this should be the true source for naturalism and I think it is a lack of understand of this that turns most Catholics off of naturalism and environmental issues.

I agree that this would probably bring great joy.  It is a great thought.  Something worth considering.

I would think we might want to start with Jesus' two commandments:

1. Love the Lord your God

2. Love your neighbor as yourself

But, this is just God and man.  Does it relate in a way?  Can it be transposed to all of creation?

Love the Lord your God?

Isn't part of that done by being thankful for what he created?
