How do YOU evangelize?

This is related to the Champions of Faith post I submitted a week or so ago.  (Again, sorry folks for the "commercial")

Here are my questions:  How do YOU evangelize?  What "tools" do you use? (i.e. books, audio, video).

I KNOW we evangelize with everything we say and do--all of our actions in and out of the home are our "tools" to lead others to Christ and His Church.

Do you ever use a book? An email? A rosary or other "Catholic" article as a gift?

I should have posed my other post differently to include Champions of Faith as my "current" favorite "tool".  I am always on the lookout for new books and such to speak the faith.

Do you evangelize in this way?

Do you evangelize?

Ave Maria!

I evangelize as much as I can.  I like to do it without 'me, myself, and I" getting in the way!

Yes, I have given many books and rosaries and so forth. I order Miraculous Medals and have them at the chapel and parishes as well as brochures on the rosary and confession and other holy topics of faith.

Yes, I use email.

I use this Catholic Exchange too!  See http://www.catholicexchange.com/en/ave_maria_meditations

I like to do things without me personally being 'preachy' or getting in the way--you know, my own sinfulness and imperfections, etc.

As St. Francis would say : Preach always; use words only if necessary"

I talk to anyone who is intrested in listening.   I try to always be loving.  I live my faith ( imperfectly but still improving).

evangilize by showing goodness towards all.  avoid doing their deeds at the same time. I would say to follow Christ's example of going to the muck and mire.  As Jesus came to sinners full of muck, we must do the same.  Do not be afraid to get your feet dirty or your clothes, just avoid doing their deeds. If Jesus was not afraid of going to lepers and prostitutes we should not be afraid either.  But use discretion as the flesh can be sucked in.  Mass daily, prayer throughout the day, and holiness strengthens our superior part the soul.  Without God in us we cannot conquer our own flesh how can we conquer other souls without God? It cannot be done unless God is in us. Through the Virgin Mary and Her Christ.

Two ways I try to evangelize are 1) not being embarassed to show visible signs and expressions of the faith and 2) consistently invite people to Mass.

I'd like to ask you guys a couple of questions: Who do you evangelize to? How do you open the topic? What kind of approach do you use? Thanks.

Krish,

start by praying asking guidance. no one can evangelize unless one is living the life. the world is too much in our daily lives. it is a constant struggle just to stay afloat. the struggle is the "conviction" to those who do not believe. the world does not understand the difference between carnality and spirituality. most do not know they have a soul. That is why I wrote do good, kindness. do good to all. show you are a child of God and God will reward you.

If you are wanting to go out and find out what it's like, you have to understand that each person has a soul and it belongs to God. Each soul is the image of the Living God. There are all kinds of back blasting comments:

1 why does God allow evil?

2 why does God not grant me the million dollar business?

3 why does God allow killing of innocents?

4 why do some Christians live like us?

Answers:

1 God did not create evil -- Book of Wisdom explains

2 God is not going to grant some one power who is still an adolescent

3 God does not allow needless killing unless it is for a good cause. The cause is many things. Here are a few: to show that evil is alive and well and His name is Satan. Two sides good and evil. Free will, just as man chose to not listen to God in Eden, man continues to not listen to God and kills innocent people because they were seduced by evil and His name is Satan. An evil person is carnal towards God they blame rather than seek help, true guidance, peace, love, joy, holiness. This all has to do with man not knowing, knowing is knowledge.

4 They are not fully convinced of God, or they are once saved always saved and they feel they can go and live as the world does. Under false pretense, not knowing.

Bottom line to all this is lack of true knowledge of God. The world is vortex sucking souls in through vice, lusts of the eyes, and flesh and pride of life.

To convince someone they are going to eternal damnation, you need to go in the power of God. Stay in a state of Grace. Sanctifying Grace spills over onto others as you live your daily life. A person in a state of SG, is always under Gods great bounty and power, that power is light and love to the world. To get to the point where everything you do is a prayer, is when souls will yield to Gods power. Because the light is attractive in a soul who is living for God. There will always be those who oppose, because they are pawns of Satan. Prayer is the key and while meditating listen to God. Once you have learned His Voice, it becomes your guide. That is why everything you do in life should be a prayer. Prayer is more than just talking to God from the mouth. It is talking to God with your soul, your soul talks to God through action as well. Meditating on God clears your soul of clutter; Prayerful life speaks to God by mouth and heart and soul and body. That is why Jesus said to love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. Because your a living prayer. Hope this helps.

Love always the Trinity and Holy Mother of God.

Well, going to mass is a good start.  There is a reason St. Theres ( a cloistered nun) is the patron saint of missionaries ;)

Still, I usually wait for the holy spirit to prompt me to say something to someone , or let things come up naturally in normal coversation.

I like the book eucharistic mericles as a nice testimony to the real presense. ( it documents scientifically unexplanable cases of the eucharist turning into human flesh and blood).

Sharing the Goods News taught by Jesus Christ in our home, in our parish, study groups, classroom, etc. can be challenging when we encounter cradle Catholics who disagree with the Magisterium of the Church because they want to be politically correct.  It’s frustrating and sad to see Catholic adults wander away because they cannot change Church teachings.

I recommend the book: Lukewarmness: The Devil in Disguise by Francis Fernandez Carvajal.  The author describes the Catholic whose faith has become weak to the point that God is not allowed to enter their heart and mind.  The author offers the remedy for lukewarm souls.

I wish to make an addition to my above post:

Fr. Francis Fernandez Carvajal also wrote In Conversation With God, an inspirational 7-volume set of books that follow the daily Liturgy readings.

I really didn't even think about it , but I make a habbit of passing out the miraclous medal to whomever I feel inspired to give one too you.

It is a wounderful way of starting a conversation and a conversion and the medial contains a whole cathecism of itself.

fishman, giving Our Lady’s Miraculous medals to others is a wonderful way to share your faith.  It’s easy to reach Christ through Mary.  She is our best model.  No one listened to the word of God more attentively than May did.  She faithfully put it into practice.

The simplest and most humble way of evangelizing is to share with others that Jesus Christ is the center of your life.  Recenlty CE had an article about the book, Good News Bad News: Evangelization, Conversion and the Crisis of Faith by Fr. C John McCloskey III and Russell Shaw.  The book gives the reader ideas and encouragement to share your faith.  If your know someone who wants to open up to you, be prepared to listen and pray and mortify yourself for that person-as long as it takes.
