During this past Sunday's homily, I was intrigued by a question that the priest presented to the congregation.  What would you say or ask Jesus , if you suddenly found yourself in his persence?  My first thought was; Jesus have mercy on me a sinner.  My 11-year old son looked at me and told me that he would ask, "will I go to heaven?" and my husband told me that he would say, "I love you!".  I thought it was interesting the three different responses that we came up without putting any real thought into it.  I was wondering what you all would come up with.   Peace  and blessings to all,  Cindy

Right after WOW! I would say forgive me and watch over my family.

Interesting question.

First, I would hope that I would even recognize him.

Then, I think I would want to give him a hug.

If we can speak at all, how about, "My Lord and my God!"

In all seriousness, the glory of the Lord will certainly cause us to fall on our faces, as it did St. John in the book of Revelation, even though he knew Jesus intimately.

Or is this a "my buddy Jesus" kind of a thing?

Dear Cindy, I would be speechless. Then I would look into his eyes to see how he is looking at me. If He prompted me to speak, then I would say, "what am I to do, Lord"?

I don't know about a "my buddy" kind of a thing.

I do know that I often pray and foster the desire to see God face-to-face (not just so that I can fall on my face).  I often pray and foster the image and the relationship of God as my Father.  I often pray and foster the image and the relationship of Jesus as my brother.

I hope that I have spent my life in utterances of worship and recognition of my humility so that I can spend the rest of my days with my Father and my Brother through the love of the Spirit.  I don't want to say anything at all to him.  I want a hug.

PTR stole my thunder.  I would say “My Lord and my God” because I say this silently at the consecration of the Mass.

Lpioch makes a good point…would I recognize Him?

This week there is a major motorcycle rally in the Black Hills. Would it be hard to recognize Jesus among several hundred thousand motorcyclists visiting the area? Just a wild thought.

I apologize if my post was offensive to you.  Would Jesus be recognized among us in this setting?  Again I'm sorry if this offended you or anyone.  Peace.

Dear Alvina, One of my students threatened me saying he knew the Hells Angels and he was going to talk to them and ask them to get me. I told my student that I knew an Angel much more powerful than the Hells Angels name Michael the Archangel and that I would pray that Michael would overwhelm the Hells Angels. My student became my friend after that and handed out over 250 bottles of Holy Water to high school friends. In the Holy Love of God I am your brother in Christ and my name is Royal

Royal,

Tthanks for sharing your marvelous story.  I met two Hells Angels and their wives at my grandson’s 4-H Fair. We shared a picnic table for an evening meal.  They were from Connecticut.  The ladies commented that everyone here is so friendly.  People in their home area are not [friendly].  I thought to myself, “Take off those Hells Angels vests.  That might help!”

God bless and have a restful night.

Let’s get back to angels4cindy's first post.

God loves you . We meet Christ by the day and barely recognize Him. I probably would not realize it was the Really-Him Christ until He had moved on. If I would then try to catch up with Him, I'd be too shy to go near - just stand afar, full of murmurs . . . 'thank You' . . . 'thank You' . . . For, you see, I would be relieved of all free will remaining, and I could just plan on 'catching up' permanently. wljewell,

Well said. Better said than I.

For that is what I meant -- that if we suddenly found ourselves in His presence in His glory it would silence us and drive us to our knees or on our faces -- "as if dead" says St. John.

But we do see Jesus, in the least of these, everyday.  And ignore Him.

Lord, help us! Thy will be done!

Well this morning I said "Good Morning Jesus" upon waking. Then to my living room and my morning prayer. "Lord give me more Faith, Love, Joy,Peace, Trust, Discipline,Hope and I asked that the spirit teach me wisdom and truth so I may Glorify God and the Kingdom of God and may the spirit be in all my thoughts, words, and deed's for the glory and Kingdom of God. Then I pick my Bible quote. "Isaiah 66:13 today" Thank you Jesus and Praise God" Then I said Lord lets make some coffee and yes the coffee was wonderful today. Then, Jesus, lets go on Catholic Exchange and see whats going on........ So far thats what I've said to Jesus today.........Think of it! I will never leave you nor forsake you!!! Praise God.            God Bless and Peace    Mike Edwards

Good point, Mike!

How is "suddenly in His presence" different from how we are in His presence always?

There is a story about when Pope St. Pius X was a boy. They were asked by the catechism teacher, "Here is an apple for whoever can tell me where God is?" and he answered, "I have an apple for whoever can say where God is not."

God loves you . Yes, MikeE, may God bless us all of every morning, and bring us 'peace in our day' - His peace - and of a day that stretches into eternity. My quandary is that to me love is the most active virtue and trait of all. How does a lonely old soul 'actively' demonstrate love not only to our God, Who deserves it ALL, but to Him in my assembled brothers and sisters - assembled, that is, outside my ken? So, the love I share upon awakening is to permit my thoughts, prayers and love for God and His children turn on all my controls and indicators for the day - yea, make the coffee! I am there for any who would happen by, and rarely does God Himself not make His Presence known. In theme of this topic - what if He showed up ready to share the coffee and have me out of me - meaning, hearing my best Confession ever - how would I show my love in response and part of my penance? (For one thing, I'd pick a more effective examination of conscience - I'm sure He could suggest one or two - in case He showed up again to hear me out in Confession . . . :) (Maybe - maybe - by His third visit I'd feel worthy to receive the Eucharist at His hand. Gotta admit, I'd love to see the pyx He brought it in.) And, I guess that I would just keep loving as I could, however 'inactive' it seems to me. I am certain part of His penance for me would be to see that not a single word of my prayers is at all inactive. He hears, and He does as He can in response and in my place. That surely of any morning is blessing and peace. Remember, I love you, too Reminding that we are all on the same side - His, Pristinus Sapienter (wljewell @catholicexchange.com or ... yahoo.com)

Brother wljewell: Peace and Love to you and all, To answer the theme, For me his presence actually showed up in a very small camper I was in. In my case my initial words were,"Oh My God" then out of control tears and then totally overwhelmed by the Love and Peace of His Presence I said nothing. Then He talked and my voice repeated His words. Praise God and Thank You Jesus                MIke Edwards

God loves you . YEAH! Grab Him where you can get Him! And, He grabs you right back . . . He might just be a child in pure delight . . . a friend in deep sorrow . . . a fortunate (or frustrated) neighbor or co-worker . . . a congregation bowed, hushed, before the just consecrated Sacrament . . . some quiet, rubber-kneed old fool (like me!) down the block . . . He is many, any and all. Or, He can come in the wind and turn the beat of your heart into song . . . Satan is but 'Legion' - our God is 'Catholic' - universal - sweeter than a Lamb and more powerful than all His Creation combined. Praise to our God, and blessed be His Holy Name. Angels4cindy. My email is Cuckoo4Jesus2@aol.com I have begun a similar mission myself here in the local churches close to me. I have made DVD's of the 4 Rosary's with the 20 mysteries. I have also made them in VHS and also CR-R playable on regular computer. On these disks I say the Rosary, explained as I go, Scrolled the words and used the pictures of the mysteries. I give these away in hopes that more will pray the Rosary every day. This was requested by the Blessed Mother many times but I don't see or feel many follow her request? Well if you email me I can send you the link to You Tube so you can view the clip of the Rosary and also if these can be a help to you in your mission I will mail you copies if you wish.  God Bless  Peace    Mike Edwards
