There is a small concierge of angry, jealous Catholics who think Priests are paid too well. According to my calculations these jealous types are incapable of complex math computations and they are victims of fractional thinking. I worked as a purchasing agent for a large corporation spending millions of dollars per month according to my best judgement. I was paid $16/hr for my service which barely covered household expenses. I also worked as a public educator with a yearly budget of nearly $200,000 yet was paid also about $16/hr which barely cover household expenses. So a Priest [whom Catholics are suppose to love] takes in several million dollars a week for a large basilica or a huge parish....does that mean the parish Priest pockets several million per week? Of course not...operational expenses deplete the entire amount after building maintenance costs, salaries of staff, child care and medical and training expense, compliance efforts, acccounting, etc. So how does the Priest deserve the title of "Wealthy"? I dont think so. The vast majority of Priest are excellent stewards of the church to which they are entrusted. My parish Priest is 89 years old and operates two parishes on 1200/mo each and both parishes have parochial schools. My parish priest is so skinny if he stood sideways you would miss him so he does not overeat. My parish priest lives in the church as threadbare as a mouse's den. My parish priest has without a doubt renounced all that he has.

How many of you can honestly say that their parish priest hogs all the profits?

He truly made a vow to imitate Christ.  Amen.
Great is his reward.

God loves you . yana, your pastor is a living saint - and, yea, there are many among our priests who 'make do' instead of 'making earthly rewards'. I figure that Roman collars scoot about heaven as they do in Rome today - by the flocks of the Flock. Go ahead - imagine a worthy sheep in a Roman collar. Remember, I love you, too . To all, I am simply trying to say that before a priest is accused of attachment to material wealth, do the math to see if the money is long gone before it even reaches his hand. Catholic priests are required to accept a spirit of poverty whether diocesan or from any other order of religious rite.
