Special Grace question

I have been attending RCIA classes along with my wife and as you might imagine, many misconceptions have been cleared up. My questions is that the other day when I was at work, I was watching Mass on tv and the priest was doing announcements and stated that there was a celebration for St. Theresa coming up and the if you did one of four things (such as visit where she is buried), you could receive a "Special Rite of Grace". I have tried to find out what this is but have probably only created more questions for myself in reference to Saints and prayers and the like. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

It means to get their help.

God gives to mankind graces.

Just be mindful of Gods graces and how certain saints received God graces to help them in their walk with God.

It takes a bit of time and even then we still do not have the complete understanding of all of God graces and what it really means.

Best thing to do is ask God and  He will answer.  The more meek and humble you are the more you get the answer.

Garrett, a 'rite' in the Catholic Church is a liturgical ceremony, i.e., the Rite of Baptism, the Rite of Christian Initiation, the Rite of Marriage, etc. I've never heard of a 'Rite of Grace' so I'm at a loss as to what the priest means.  If you get a better answer, please let me know.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines grace thus:

"1999: The grace of Christ is the gratuitous gift that God makes to us of his own life, infused by the Holy Spirit into our soul to heal it of sin and to sanctify it. It is the sanctifying or deifying grace received in Baptism. It is in us the source of the work of sanctification.

Good luck and God bless you and your wife on your journey.

Peace

yes, I may have stated that wrong from memory and it may well have been just "special grace".  I am confused on what that is and how doing one of these said actions enables you to get this grace. He even gave ways for those that are homebound to participate

I think that the prominent words being repeated today are 'look to the saints' which to me is replacing 'look to Jesus'.  Grace are Gods way of saying here's a gift in the form of a grace.  Such as the grace to overcome certain sins, or grace to help others or grace to pray, or grace to receive something we lack inner wise.  Grace from God covers a wide range of things.  Just get used to grace.  Because life in God is about His graces.

Sanctifying graces is the one to be mindful of on a daily basis.

The bottom line being if we are out in hysterical chaos sometimes to get back to center
we need to look at a life of a saint.  The saints looked to something of God to get encouragement to continue and persevere.

I could be wrong, but the prescriptions that you have described are often means of obtaining indulgences.  They may have used a different term (with grace?) because the word "indulgence" is so vastly misunderstood today.

For a very good, concise meaning, look to the Catechism of the Catholic Church #1471 - 1479.

Also, please please please do not hesitate to seek intercession through your brothers and sisters in Christ, the Saints.  The words today are "You are a child of God." and "The saints are your brothers and sisters in Christ."  No one would dare look to the saints without looking right through them to Christ.
