i am not sure if this is where to post this queston, but I will start here. Does anybody know what the church's teaching is about ectopic pregnancy and abortion....If the baby is left to grow in the tube it would lead to death for the mother. so what are the options?

Removing the fallopian (sp?) tube is the proper course.  It's called the principle of double effect.  The intent is not to kill the baby, but to remove the tube.  The baby dies, but that was not the intent.

Intending to and taking the direct action to kill the baby is an abortion.

Understand the difference?

I suspected I had an ectopic pregnancy a few years ago, and did a bunch of research because I wanted to handle it appropriately.  Everything I found from the Catholic prospective said that removal of the fallopian tube is the proper way to go.  (It's the tube that's defective, not the baby.)  I had about 24 hours to do research, and then my fear was realized when my tube ruptured.  Even though things happened fast, I instructed the doctor to make sure he removed the tube and not just the baby, and he honored my request.  I also read that if possible, see if you can have a priest there to do a baptism (Unfortunately, I didn't have time to make that arrangement.)  Hope that's helpful.
