The Missionaries of Charity run a home for unwed mothers in Chicago Does anybody know what it takes to get one of these orders to come to your diocese? Cardinal George gave them a free building. Is that all they need? I wouldn't mind talking to my bishop about it because I think a group like that would be awesome here. I just want to know if the idea makes any sense or not.

Saint and Mother Teresa of Calcutta's Missionaries of Charity are awesome anywhere. If you approach your bishop, have services that they could provide in mind. They specialize in the marginalized, the forgotten, the homeless, the penniless, the dying - true missionaries out of the love of Christ and the heart of the Church. Randy,

It’s a great idea to bring nuns your city and diocese. I certainly encourage you to speak your bishop about this. Most Catholic nuns have a long waiting list of requests. It helps to initiate the process as soon as possible.

The Dominican nuns in Nashville Tennessee are a growing community. The nuns wear a traditional habit and they are very orthodox Catholics. Recently a young lady from our diocese made her perpetual vows with the Dominican nuns in Nashville.

There is also a great demand for lay Catholic missionaries for college campuses notably Fellowship of Catholic University Students – FOCUS. This organization has a long waiting list to fill the numerous requests for young lay Catholics who receive missionary training in the FOCUS program. --Vi

p.s. I would appreciate if a moderator could complete a direct link to the above two websites. I will continue to study the HTML tags offered below my Comments Box.

Moderator, I want to thank you, CE Angel, for providing a link to the websites in my previous post. I read the proper tags with the edit feature. CE Angel, please provide direct links from the websites to the words "Dominican" and "FOCUS" to replace the website address. I will study and practice so that I won't need to pester you in the future. God bless. With much gratitude --Vi

* And, after reading of Mrs. Biever's training-room faux pas - you won't get any links out of me! No! Not even to Mrs. Biever's story right here on CE . . . Pristinus Sapienter, I encountered some problems while monkeying around with linking. In the future I will keep my responses simple, at least until I know what I am doing. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused you. Thank you for your help. --Vi

I just prefer the good 'old.' days when '[b]' yielded BOLD instead of 'strong' yielding . . . bold. And '[i]' italicized instead of needing to invoke good ole Auntie 'Em' outta Kansas. '[u]' could getcha an underline, which nothing gets, now . . .

As a dear departed priest once said, only partially in jest, "All change is bad, even if it's for the better."

Ahhhh, but this supposes the subject change is for the better. I confess to no longer remembering what the previous forum navigation was like, it has been many bits sent since, but I visit other boards and there are better interfaces to be had. We need some specific way to make suggestions, a way that gives soem clue that the suggestion has at least been read. Sort of like a "Project Log" on open source sites. This isn't really set up in the New Site thread where posts seem to disappear in the big bit bucket in the great beyond.
Regards,
Old Sigma
PS for CE Technical Support: Thank you for adding the navigation options (1 2 Next, etc) for a long thread at the top of the thread.
