The totals of all murders perpetrated worldwide by Islamic Terrorists pale in comparison to the numbers of lives of innocent human beings wrenched away in the United States - violently and cowardly, but legally! - as they lie defenseless in the wombs of their mothers. The magnitude of the daily increment constantly augmenting that gruesome total (by way of comparison) exceeds the 3,000 murdered by terrorists on the single day: 9-11-01!
How could this be allowed by citizens of the Land of the Free devoted to human rights; by citizens devoted to the Golden Rule: "Do Unto Others as You Would Have Others Do Unto You"; by citizens, so many aware that the Great Commandment requires all to love God first and foremost and to "Love your neighbor as yourself"?
These 3,000+ innocent human beings murdered each day are our neighbors; are they not? What, then?
Surely, US citizens who actively elect (at all government levels) politicians who (for political expediency) ignore this carnage, will be asked, one day, by the Great Record Keeper to defend why they directly violated the Great Commandment by selecting leaders who facilitate the gruesome, unjust deaths of all these neighbors!
Surely, US citizens eligible to vote but who do not express opposition (at all government levels) toward politicians dedicated to this carnage; and then decline to show up on election day to vote in opposition to all such politicians, will be asked, one day, by the Great Record Keeper to defend why they kept silent before elections and why they forfeited their powerful voting right in favor of their innocent neighbors! Note: Election after election, these comprise 50% of all eligible voters: So far in excess of votes needed to bury the Culture of Death!
Surely it is essential to scrutinize and debate the relative suitability of key politicians for office, particularly those contending for President, but until American citizens know and articulate that opportunity and responsibility are theirs, primarily - not the politicians’ - to insist upon justice for the dignity of all American neighbors, we will find, sadly, that a president or single politician alone will be severely impeded in bringing about necessary justice.
All politicians - liberal and conservative; of all political parties or none - must be made strongly aware that American citizens are becoming evermore convinced that the Culture of Death (i) is a movement anathema to the principles that were the underpining of the creation of the United States and of its continuing peace and greatness; that, rather (ii) the Culture of Death is a massive, commerial enterprise achieving its profitable, deathly ends by strangling the American political processes.
While this post appears in the political forum it is not a partisan matter. Laity, clergy and existing pro-life organizations can judge whether the dictates of the Great Commandment and of the Golden Rule are not the bedrock reason why abortion and its companion attrocities are wrong. If they agree that is the case, then they ought to orient and strengthen their initiatives accordingly, so that we may arouse a vocal and voting contingency that acts accordingly and vigorously. If we can educate citizens, young and old, franchised and not, toward these ideas, no parties or individual politicians -nor Culture of Death - will be an obstacle to our country’s continuing (and increasing) greatness. Good things can be made to happen in 2008 when politicians know our moral will.
Pie in the sky? Let’s see. .
Peace, Jakes
