Recently I find it difficult to use CE.

First of all I am concerned about being asked for my password, because I fear phishing.

I am asked to update my information. As I do not have a zip code in Ireland, the updated information was not accepted, until I put in a zip code for somewhere in the US.

I get the error message 404.

I cannot read all messages now.

I do not know where new messages are.

Would it be posssible to go back to our old way of doing things, or alternatvely could someone please help?

Noel,
I'm sharing the same frustrations as you. I figured I would give it another week (when I'll also have a little more time) to pester those up above to figure out a timeline of when things will be fully functioning again.

As for being asked your password and more info, you can rest assured it is not phishing. It is the new system CE is putting into place.
I would bet they have not yet tested the system for those not in the US (a real shame).

I'm just assuming I needed to learn a little more patience, and hence...God gave me the opportunity to learn. But soon this will get a little crazy.

Folks, we have just replaced our technical company after a series of failures that have been all too obvious to all of you. I beg you not to give up on us. We are doing our best to restore complete service while dealing in justice and charity with a fellow Catholic whose promises to us apparently exceeded his abilities. We could all use your prayers.

Our editorial staff has spent months working with several teams of writers to bring you new channels with cutting-edge content. With our hearts in our throats we have watched our prospects of bringing that to you in a timely manner evaporate due to technical issues that were not our fault and that we could not do anything about. But the writers with whom we have been working have demonstrated outstanding loyalty to us and they are still willing to work with us -- praise God!

I will have further information at this spot tomorrow.

Mary

Thank you for your post.

CE is very important for me, hence my concerns.

It is a way for me to discuss, in a safe, open and supportive way, with others who share my basic beliefs, my deep concerns and hopes.

I benefit a lot and appreciate the prayers, friendship and support of members.

It is when there are problems with CE that I realize how much it means to me.

Thanks to all in CE and to those who participate in this round-table.

Noelfitz.

Mary,

While I do not get to post a lot of responses, I enjoy the articles, the Words of encouragement and the responses from all the others on this site. Thnak you for your update and your site is worth the wait. My prayers are with you as you navigate through this difficult time. Hang in there!

We are in the process of having an assessment done by our new technicians and soon I will be able to tell you what the prognosis is.

Thank you, Mary. With your knowledge, skills, dedication and faith you, truly, are inspiring.

May things work out as smoothly as possible, if only to reward you with deserved comfort, rest and the sense of your having worked through another accomplishment for the benefit of us all, your neighbors!

Peace and blessings, Jakes

Ok, here is what happened. We switched to another platform in order to be able to expand the site. But as all of you saw, once the switch was made nothing worked. We brought in a new company of experts to assess the problem and they have concluded that we have to switch back -- that the troubles we are having with this new platform are not fixable.

Within a couple of days, you will start to see everything back to the old normal, as it was a couple of weeks ago. We are very sorry that this happened. But we aren't giving up in our determination to expand CE despite the technical set backs we have experienced.

One more thing -- when we first make the switch back, not all of the content that has been loaded on the site for the past two weeks will be there. It will take a few days for me to get it all moved over.

I always say...
through my struggles of getting a Comp Sci degree as a "backup"...
"Computers are such necessary evils."

I still hold fast to my assertion.
It's such a love/hate relationship, really.

My prayers are with CE!

I suppose that goes hand in hand with my assertion that all good programmers must have a slight hint of masochism in their blood ( to complement the caffeine i suppose).

Obviously the problems that we thought could be fixed in a few days are going to end up taking a few weeks. So when you get your IRS economy-booster check, please think about CE!

well, they are getting better. Many people do not realize that underestimations of %50 time/ money on a software project is consider a really good estimiation in most circles. underestimates by 100 and 200 % are not untypical. Hey mary didn't they do a parallel run of your back end for testing until they tought they had all the kinks out? That would have been standard procedure ( but of coarse cost more money) ;)
