On Saturday, August 2, 2008, I was at the capital of Wisconsin for the Farmers Market, which is held around the capital build in Madison. I was carrying a sign with me, which got the attention of PP. PP personal ask, “Do you have a permit?”. We responded, “We have a right to free speech, but we do have a permit to be here, that we were on the other side of the building”. Personal from the Capital building came out to take pictures. Other on the sidewalk also took pictures. We heard comments from the sidewalk and also had many approach and talk to us. We could not of asked for more, here is the content of our sign.

Most of the comments where about hate speech specialist, and they came from the sidewalk crowd.

Your sign was provocative. I understand why and I support respect for life, too. But, your sign did not speak out with respect, let alone communicate your message in a way that women would listen.

The words that are on your sign will not reach women. When I see signs like this, all I walk away remembering is the anger - not the message. It really turns me off from listening. I wouldn't be able to hear what you are really trying to say, because of the angry words or images.

Have you ever listened to a parent yelling? It shuts people down, on the spot.

Have your friends bring their babies and little children with them. Have young women come with you, about the same age of the women going into these clinics. Have them dress similar to these young women. Maybe even bring puppies, kittens or any baby animal. Most women would never think of hurting a baby animal. Young girls have a soft spot for baby animals and human babies too. Stuffed animals might help too.

These images would reflect in a loving, respectful way, the message you are trying to say to them.

Young girls can relate to other young women, like themselves. This would give them a visual picture of a different, more positive outcome.

The girls won't quit going to planned parenthood, unless they can visualize a different, more positive outcome.

Please consider giving these girls a visual picture of the beauty of all life. Especially show them how cute the babies really are!

I'm not quite sure I understand the context of where this sign was. Laura I think you would be right on the mark if this were a protest out in front of an abortion clinic trying to reach mothers. however it was not, these post says that this was at a farmers market near the state capital and as such I think the sign might have been very appropriate and useful to get people talking and thinking about the abortion issue more fully.

Beside, PP is certainly a hate speach group by thier very nature, they are severely prejudical against the catholics and the catholic church and engage in nearly as much covert and overt persecution of catholics as the KKK does blacks. The group should be shut down for that purpose alone.

It was by the PP booth, they allow other organizations to put booths out. We were religious.

I will wear an Umbert t-shirt for you, and we did get young laidies to talk. Besides we also talk to young men.

I think the youth are ready for a change, they see the effect of PP and are seeking alternatives.

Luara, I think they understand that we are talking about PP and not them.

I think you are right. I read this late one night when I was tired and may have misunderstood the context of your post. That's what I get for staying up too late on the computer!

Peace be with you all.
