I've come to you all, to ask your advise. I discovered yesterday, that a close family friend is considering an abortion. She has her first appointment at Planned Parenthood tomorrow. The final one, next week.
She told me this in confidence. Is it wrong to betray a confidence, if an innocent life is at stake?
I spoke with her at length and gave her an 800 # to call, to have someone to talk to. I did my best to defend life, in a gentle, realistic, down to earth way. She is at least considering the possiblity of adoption, but she is terrified of her mother and grandmother and does not have a good relationship with them. Her mother and grandmother is the reason she is seeking an abortion. They are Catholics, her grandmother is extremely devout and attends daily mass, but she can't talk to either one of them.
Does her mother or grandmother have a right to know? Her boyfriend is crying because he has no say in her decision.
Does anyone have any advise? How to talk to her in a gentle non, threatening way that isn't full of "religious words".
I am sorry to turn to all of you for this issue, but I can not speak with anyone else about it, without betraying a confidence.
Thank you.
laura
