My spiritual director has been kind enough to take me for several months now on every first Friday to our local celebration of Taize. You can Google this ecumenical prayerful expression of simple praise for more information.

However, I can tell you from experience just how refreshing the simple one-hour service is to my need for communal prayer. It is a wondrous adjunct to the Mass. Full of simple song, it gives to each petitioner that moment to bring my candle before the crucified Christ to beg Him - "remember me when You enter Your Kingdom".

And, do, please remember my spritual director, Father Robert Botthof, O.P., and his family in your prayers. Nearing eighty with heart failure and diabetes beleaguering him, he in my weekly mainstay; a prayer for him is a prayer for me.

You are fortunate to have a good spiritual director/guide/friend.

I am grateful for your prayers and I will remember you, your friends, colleagues and relatives in mine. I will pray for all associated with CE.

I really love the Taize chants. I find them moving and evocative.
