Now that this nation has spoken and we have elected the most pro-abortion President ever and we have turned the United States Congress over to the pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage Democrat party, I must say that I am truly ashamed tonight to call myself an American. This is not the America that I know-the one founded on the principles of the Declaration Of Independence.

How can a nation that has turned in this direction invoke the protection and guidance of God? Will God hear the prayers of this nation? Is there truly just a small remnant left?

I know that my trust must be in the Lord and that His will is in place tonight in this nation. however, in my humaness, I just don't see it right now and in all honesty feel like an outcast within my own country.

Peace to all and God forgive us

I felt the same way. I felt like crying while everyone else was celebrating. I had trouble comprehending the fact that half of our fellow Catholics rejected the church's teaching on the value of marriage, the family, and human life and voted for monetary reasons instead. I guess they rely on money more than God. Jesus told us we couldn't love God and money and who did they choose? After all these years of attending mass and listening to God's word...were they listening?

The CEO's secretary where I work is a faithful Catholic who voted for Mr. Obama. Her reasoning was that the law isn't going to be changed regarding abortion and she would rather see these women have a clean, safe place to go for this procedure than to have them end up dead as well, by obtaining an abortion illegally. I asked her what she thought about his position on partial birth abortion, abortion through all stages of preganancy and the fact he voted against the born alive act. She seemed to think it was a horrible thing these women do but it really didn't have anything to do with her.

She's in Italy right now on a 10 day sight seeing tour.

I am glad to hear that others feel like an outcast in our own country, too. I feel like that with some of the people from our church now, as well.

we are to be in the world, not of it laurak.
I felt the same way the night of the election. Ashamed to be an american and sad for the beating christ took at the hands of those who claim to follow Him and his father.

Most of it was legitimate confusion , and the majestarium itself failed to teach as clearly as was obviously needed, given how many were still confused about what is actually taught.

If i could think of a better country to live in I might go there, but I don't know of one , so I guess I'll stay here.

There is a part of me that still hopes oboma fails miserably and the country gets exactly what they deserve for electing the man, but I'm trying to overcome that sin.

May God bless oboma and bring him a miraclous conversion of heart so he can be truely called a holy and upright man.

I agree with the most recent post and also pray for President-elect Obama. At the same time I have reached the conclusion that our political-economic system is corrupt and perhaps beyond repair. Our Founding Father's in fact predicted a moment like this when the government would become so powerful and out of touch with the people that they noted it was not just their right, but obligation to stand up and challenge that government. i don't know if we are at that moment or hurtiling rapidly toward it. I do know that our trust must be on God and that any man-made form of trust however noble and good it may be is entirely inferior to the will of the Father. Perhaps these next few years will be much like what the ancient Jews experienced when they roamed the desert on their journey to the Promised Land. Perhaps on when we are in Exile and in the deepest sands of the desert will we come back to God-rendering not our garments, but our hearts. Perhaps we will now know better what it was like for Jesus in the Garden when he suffered alone anticipating the pain of the Cross, but also holding inHis Heart the joy of Ressurrection. Perhaps these next few years will be the challenge for Christians of our era. As the world appears to spin out of control as immoral forces and policies take control, it will be not just the right, but our obligation to stand with Jesus in the Garden anticipating and perhaps dreading the next days. It will be our oblgation to stand with Jesus at his Comdenation and Trial, help Him to carry the Cross. It will be our obligation to be the voices in the wilderness reminding all that Jesus Christ is the Lord and Savior of All Mankind.

Peace
