I have tried to make it a regular aspect of what I write and pray to refer to the Catholic Church as 'Christ's Church' or 'His Church'. It is yours and it is mine only as a greatest gift from His wounded hands, which still embrace His Bride-Church that grace flow from Him to you and me.
I think that much of the dissident demands and egoist fantasies of certain Catholics come out of an overweening sense that 'this is MY Church' with little or no reference even to the giftedness that is of Jesus Christ, Who is perfectly faithful Groom to His Church, let alone that His hands forever rest with ours in her. If it is in any way a bit more the Pope's Church, or our bishop's Church, it comes from the simple but magisterial grace from Christ, and their greater responsibility to Christ, that His Spirit touches upon them as important part of how He gives His Spirit to us.
So, do yourself the favor of calling our Mother Church Christ's Church, from which His gracious Presence among us has no equal. And, of His unequaled Presence in His Church, if you take the Eucharist in your hands, do yourself the further grace to feel His hands in yours, your hands in His. If you let go, He will not, for so He loves you.
